Oh my god, can we talk about how messy our kits get sometimes? Like, you’re in the middle of a shoot, you’re in your zone, and then—BAM—you can’t find that eyeliner. Or your lashes are all over the place. I mean, it happens to the best of us, right? But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with some storage hacks that’ll make organizing your makeup kit a breeze. I swear, after trying these, you’ll be saying, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?!”

1.Ziploc Bags for the Win
Okay, don’t roll your eyes at me. I know, I know, it sounds like something your mom would say, but hear me out! Ziploc bags are lifesavers. I’ve started using them for each client’s products—foundation, lashes, brushes—everything in its own little bag. It keeps things from mixing, and you can toss a bag in your kit without it being a total disaster. Plus, you can label them if you’re doing multiple clients in a day. Simple, but genius.

2.Clear Makeup Train Cases
I know we all love those cute bags, but let’s be real—how many times have you dug through your kit, only to find that one thing buried under 40 other products? I got myself a clear makeup case, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. I can see exactly what I’m working with without digging through the whole thing. Bonus points if it has compartments to keep everything organized!

3.Use Lazy Susans
Okay, don’t knock it ‘til you try it. Lazy Susans (like the ones in your kitchen) are a MUST for organizing your larger products. You know those foundations, setting sprays, and palettes that always seem to take up so much space? Put them on a lazy susan. Trust me, it’ll save you so much time trying to find stuff. You can just spin it around and grab whatever you need.

4.Magnetic Strips for Tools
You ever lose tweezers in your kit? Or scissors? Or your favorite eyelash curler? It happens way too often. So, I started sticking magnetic strips inside my case (or even on the wall if you’re working from a station). I stick all my metal tools on there and they never get lost. It’s like magic.

5.Brush Holders
This one is simple but often overlooked. If you don’t already have a solid brush holder, get one! You don’t want your brushes getting crushed or tangled with other things. I love those travel brush rolls, but if you’re carrying a lot, a sturdy holder works wonders. You can even use a pencil case in a pinch!

6.Stackable Containers
You ever just have a pile of single-use packets for things like makeup wipes or cotton pads? They get everywhere, and it drives me crazy. So, I bought some stackable containers, and now all my disposables have a place. It keeps them neat, and I can grab them quickly without making a mess.

7.Label EVERYTHING
Look, if you’re not labeling things, you’re basically asking for chaos. And I get it, we all think we’ll remember where we put things, but trust me, you won’t. I label my makeup bags, brushes, even my travel cases. It sounds a bit extra, but it saves time in the long run, especially when you’re in a rush. You won’t be asking, “Where did I put my concealer?” anymore.

8.DIY Dividers for Small Items
Small things like lip liners, mascara, and minis can get lost SO easily in a bigger compartment. So I took a few old makeup palettes that I wasn’t using anymore and cut them into dividers. Now, I’ve got little sections for all the small items that tend to wander around in my kit. Super easy to do and super effective.

9.Use Magnetic Makeup Palettes
Okay, so we all know how annoying it is when eyeshadow or blush pans break. Ugh, right? Well, I started using magnetic makeup palettes to put all my loose pans in one place. Now I don’t have to worry about a single pan breaking, and I can create a custom palette for every look!

10.Invest in a Makeup Trolley
This might be the best investment I ever made. A makeup trolley is like your entire kit on wheels. It’s perfect for when you’re working on location or in a studio. You can organize your products in different trays, roll it around, and everything stays nice and tidy. Plus, it gives you a bit of an “I’m a pro” vibe!

Okay, girl, I know this might seem like a lot, but trust me, if you implement just a few of these hacks, you’ll be feeling like a total organization queen. Not only will it save you time, but it’ll save you a lot of stress. Because let’s face it: makeup artists have enough to worry about without the chaos of a messy kit. Let’s get organized! You got this. 💅✨
